I need advice

Hello all,

I'll cut to the chase, I'm looking for a preamp pedal/EQ pedal that can have presets saved for different players. There are three bass players who all play with a different technique and it would be nice to have a pedal that can have their preset saved on the pedal for a certain cut/boost depending on their playing.

The FOH is asking for me to research a pedal that the players could use so he doesn't have to worry about switching the gain and EQ on the board every time a different player (different techniques/basses used) gets up to play.

It sounds like a small problem but if there's something out there that can have EQ presets set manually that would help.

There's the Sansamp BDDI Deluxe which works well if you want an analog solution. 3 channels programmable and selectable by footswitches. Only Bass/Treble/Presence though. If you need more mids you turn down the others. I have one and it works great. Easy to use, you just twiddle the knobs to the sound you want, then double-click the switch on the channel you want to save it on.

Line 6 Helix/Stomp and Zoom B3-N come to mind as digital solutions. Programmable patches and eq's. There are a bunch of models in various price ranges. I haven't tried these so not sure about the tone.

Hey - just a thought - the engineer could have the pedal up at the board so he can tweak and switch the bass presets as needed. You know, in case the players forget, and also to prevent them from making changes. This way you could just send a clean DI signal, and adjust your stage amp sound/eq individually without affecting the signal to the FOH.
