I need help coming up with a vocal melody for a original song.

My band has come up with a new original song and I am having a hell of a time composing a vocal melody for it. Could anybody help me with this. Maybe some singing over the recording or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I can't listen to it at work. But I'll give you a couple of basic pointers.

Start with an idea that you hopefully get from the tune. Build your lyrics from that idea. Once you have some lyrics, look at the rhythm of the words. Chant that rhythm over your melody and the melody will come to you.

But that 'chanting' phase is important. Getting the rhythmic feel of the lyrics is the most important part of the melody writing process.

Do you have words for it already? Gave it a listen and I get a few ideas. Just curious though if you had anything written yet. Me, I'd start with the ending piece and write from there.
Gonna give it another listen with some headphones. Can't hear much bass through my Droid.
