I need help deciding...

Ok, so the deal is this...

I was offered the opportunity to purchase a '98 Modulus Quantum 5 for the price of $800. The bass is in what I would consider very good shape (there is some wear on the hardware, but nothing that compromises the integrity of the instrument). It also has a very cool history, having been previously owned by Stefan Lessard from the Dave Matthews Band.

Money is tight for me now, but I can scrounge up the $800 I think. I'm just feeling a bit guilty, so...

My thought is that this would be a companion to my main fretted bass, which is an '04 Fender Marcus Miller IV. I A/B'ed the instruments, they have clearly very different tones, so that is not in question really.

What would you guys do? Should I just nab it while the getting is good?

Thanks for the help guys!

Let me put it this way...

If you bought it and hated it, you could EASILY get $1200 for it.
If there's a way to get written verification that Lessard owned it, you'd get way more.

I emailed the serial numbers to Modulus. I've seen the bass in videos of DMB in '99 (Dave Matthews Band #41 Live - YouTube). As far as I can tell, everything checks out, just waiting hopefully for a confirmation from Modulus.
