Another vote for DB here. Your orchestra need a DB player now so use that to become better at it. This doesn't mean you have to abandon the cello. You might for instance want to join or form another group where you play cello.
Just inform the orchestra conductor that you'd rather play cello, and that you'd be happy if they could find another DB player so you could switch back to cello.
