I need Preamp ideas for live sound. Anyone??

I love my Sadowsky outboard pre. I play a Lakland passive and a Lakland active -- using the Sadowsky pre gives the passive Lakland a thicker tone and can boost the volume to match the signal I'm sending with the active bass (which makes switching basses easier on our FOH engineer). The Sadowsky pre is super simple -- I didn't want anything crazy or any amp modeling, etc. Just Bass, Treble, Volume, Mute!

I know guys who use the Aguilar Tone Hammer and the SansAmp -- Both are great too.

At the last 2 churches I've played at, there's just a di box on the stage. You plug your bass in, and use the parallel-out to your amp. Both have house-amps on stage that you can use, tweak to taste, -or use your own amp. Your soundguy is going to have to handle the bass tone to the house anyway, if you get a complicated preamp onstage he is going to have to 'undo' all the over-tweaking some guys will eventually do, and it will drive him nuts. The soundboard has plenty of eq to get a good sound through the mains, and if your soundguy is competent that will happen. If your soundguy is not competent, you're screwed anyway.
In a church setting with multiple bassists, you really need to keep it super-simple and just get a nice DI, like a Radial, and say "this is where you plug in your bass guitar".
