okay so my parents said they will give me money in advance so i can get my bass
i have $300 to spend on a bass and i was hopin a used one on ebay since i can get them cheap there
can someone give me some reccomendations or send me a link
and by soon i mean 1 week or 2 til i get it because we have to wait for the new credit cards to come in

Personally I'd get a used G&L Tribute L2000 or a new Squier VM or Classic Vibe Jazz or P-Bass, but whatever bass is best for you is up to you.

it may be a little out of your price range but if i were you i would try and find one for less

for $300.00 I would look for a used Fender Jazz MIM. Chances are you are probably going to end up owning one anyway.

You totally need to get a Squier VM Jazz!

These things ROCK for the money, amazing value! A lot of the pros around here buy them as second (or 10th) basses to use at gigs.

I have that. The bass is nice, the amp is just ok. everything else in the pack sucks. If you like the way the neck feels and plays, you can always slap on some new pups and get a new amp (although, if you have the money, getting a better bass and amp at first would be wise)

Any of the US made peaveys are amazing. Foundations, old furies with the P pickups, T20s or 40s, patriots, dynabasses, etc are the best bang for the buck out there without a doubt. Awesome build quality, great sound, made in the US, and you can usually get them for under 200 with their original case. Really, you cant do any better for under 500. I just picked up a 5 string foundation with super ferrites (which are arguably some of the best pickups ever) in near perfect condition with original case for $152.50 off ebay. I havent received it yet, but im sure it will be great.

You could go with something like a used MIM, but theres really not much of a comparison. The Peaveys easily compare with a US Fender and many prefer the neck and pickups of the Peaveys to the Fenders.

From using the SR305, I have to say I enjoy it. However, if you're just starting out, I'd honestly suggest the GSR200. I'm playing it as I type this. It was my first bass that was really mine, and I still use it. Cheap, I think it goes for like $200ish, but I still love the feel and sound.

As for an amp? Well mine didn't come with one, but with $100 left over you might be able to find a cheap one.

I have several higher dollar vintage basses, but I find myself playing my Peavey Foundation which I got for $99 at a local pawn shop. These basses are very solid, very playable, and have great tone. If you get one of the smaller bodies from the '90s they are also very light.
