I need urgent help! [Word related]

There's a chance you might be able to locate the missing content, or portions of it, on your hard disk by searching for text strings with a forensic-grade disk editor such as WinHex, or even Invalid Link Removed. It's worked for me as a last resort a couple of times.
 
Write everything as a plain text document using notepad. I prefer to make a folder and create one text file for each chapter / section.

When you're done, make a copy of it and open it with Word and do all your formatting. Or copy and paste the text into a Word document.

Never ever trust Microsoft Word with your only copy.
