I received my Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass

I received my Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass on Friday. I played it that night for a couple hours.
On Saturday I set the bass up pretty quickly. But when doing this I noticed that the bridge was going to have to go.
Too cheap for my liking. The pickgruard was scratched and dented over a lot of it. So that’s going to have to be replaced.
I gave the bass a good workout that afternoon and played about 4 hours. After that I was pretty impressed by the way it played and sounded. If it didn’t play good I was going to return it because of the banged up pickguard. But at the end of the day the bass kind of grew on me so I’m keeping it now. Does a standard Fender P Bass pickguard and bridge fit the Squier VM.
If so, what’s are some good replacement parts for it.

Any Fender five hole bridge/Gotoh 201/Badass II should fit on this. Pickguards are another story as the holes might not line up. The SVMP has 13 holes and they seem to be in the standard Fender places, so an aftermarket pickguard might fit.

to the OP, might I suggest talking to IbanezCollector In a recent thread (a week old, also about a SVMP), I think he mentioned that the pickguard was a little bit different. My memory is fuzzy, so try and find that thread.

Every new Squier VM bass I have picked up and played has been really great(especailly for the money).

I am pretty sure that a Gotoh 201 bridge will fit, along with Badass III (May need extra work, though).

When I ordered the PG for my Squier P I had to order one for a Mexican P (No truss rod adjustment hole). They didn't have one cut and drilled for a Squier. None of the PG holes lined up and I had to drill new ones. I also had to open up the neck pocket. Maybe I just had bad luck, though. I do think that most places will allow you to send in your orginal PG, then they can custom cut it to fit your bass perfect, I was going to this but I was too impatient. Live and learn i guess.

The BAIII is meant for basses with a 3-hole bridge, a BAII will fit a 5-hole.
If I remember correctly the Squiers have a 5-hole bridge.

Roger at Jeanie Pickguards can make a copy of the one you have now if you send him your old one or a tracing of it.

Yes, they do and a BAII is the one you want. The stock SVM bridges (and tuners) are cheap-a** but they seem to work just fine. I have the fretless jazz and it stays in tune and intonated really well.
