I shaved my head (picture inside)

It looks good on you.

I already let the wife know that I'm cutting it all off once the balding kicks in, but I'm actually considering cutting it all off sooner than later. Sometimes I just don't feel like being bothered with it and having to run to someone every week or two to get a good cut.

Question for the TB Baldilocks... do you use a razor, or clippers/trimmers?

I think chicks dig it when a dude can pull off bald, it lets 'em know that the future won't be too horrible.

My girlfriend loves it when I shave my head. I ironically look younger with a bald head, but I also think I look eviler (metaler) and more like a hippie with long hair.

That reminds me, not to derail, but what makes someone look like a hippie vs. a metal guy... is it just the clothes? Because even with a High on Fire shirt and jeans I looked like a hippie... I think this has to do with the born metal vs. becoming metal issue. Derailing totally, but uh, yeah, bald is in these days.

The uniform of the modern metal head is very close to that of the neo hippy. Jeans, T shirts, long hair, beards. Incidentally, it is all very similar to the uniform of the (Harley Davidson) Biker, but I don't want to derail the thread any further than what is necessary.

The only way to tell a hippy from a metal head is their facial expressions. The hippy will always have a smile or a glazed over look of confusion. The metal head will always have a scowl or frown.

A little known fact is that if a metal head gets some good news and accidentally allows themselves to smile, they actually become a hippy, but only for the period of time during which they are actually smiling. Conversely, if a hippy has a bad day and walks around scowling and glaring at people, he has actually become "metal" for the period of time during which is going about giving dirty looks.

It's all very complicated. There's really not that much difference between the two. It's not as easy to keep track of the subsets of rock and rollers as it used to be.

Bald or very close shaven are great hairstyle. Chicks love bald men. Really. You'll find this out. It's a great look for a musician/bass player just ask Tony Levin. Really stands out. You'll need to wear hats and sunblock depending on the situation.

Also, ask Frank Gambale about baldness! :ninja:

just kidding Frank, I love you!

The first time, my friend/"barber" cut my hair really short, then went over my head with my beard trimmer, and then shaved my head with a razor and shaving cream. The other night, when I did it by myself, I first used the trimmer, then the razor, then I went over it with my electric shaver to get a closer shave. I will probably use the electric shaver every few days.

Get yourself a mirror for in the shower and a woman's Mach3 razor (goes by the model "Venus"). I use baby shower soap to lather my head and I use baby cream / sun screen after I dry off.

Eli notice you dont need as much shampoo now ? In military school when I had my head shaved i was able to get 1 academic year out of 1 bottle of shampoo !

When I had my head shaved for drum corps I never used any shampoo.

I was told I looked like a serial killer when my head was shaved but then I had a goattee and was playing the crap out of a pair of cymbals.

Eh.

I like the look. Good job.
