I simply cannot slap...

Ohhh we'd get along well with our musical tastes, I absolutely love Japanese jazz fusion.

This particular song is Domino Line by Casiopea

Off the album Mint Jams, which is an incredible live album (you can't even tell it's a live album, the playing is perfect)

I was afraid you’d say Casiopea, I’ve been working on Time Limit this past couple of weeks, but otherwise I’ve managed to remain oblivious to most of their music for an embarrassingly long time :) I need to sit down and properly listen to their output.

They’re an incredible band! And a gateway to many more bands from Japan that are (almost) just as good.

Time Limit is a fantastic song, and the bassline is what does it. It’s a challenging one! I can play the main riff, but that’s about it.

Mint Jams is considered one of their best albums. Super Flight, Make Up City, Material, along with the debut would be my biggest picks to start with.

No one taught me how to slap but when I was a teenager I just consumed as much Primus material as possible and eventually I became competent at slapping/popping. I don't do it much anymore but the muscle memory is still there. Just start slow!
