I find his chops undeniable but all the gimmick videos he has done are starting to blend into one for me. I really hope he can start playing with other musicians at some point and get something interesting going on. He is perhaps the first 'young' bassist that has attained popularity via sitting in a room with a camera. I really think all players and instruments are more interesting when played in an ensemble, so I hope he will start doing this at some point.

I agree and was actually thinking something along those same lines as I was watching it, I've only seen a few of his videos and watch them once for the technical prowess. No matter what, it is very impressive though and kicks me into practicing a little more. But yeah, being a 'solo artist' and being a 'bass player' are two different things to me. I've rarely learned things so that I could dazzle people.

Watching the video had me considering a few things:

What he does ain't my thing, and while it's extraordinary, the A & R guy's gonna inevitably ask; "Where's the single?". Is there a band that he plays music with?
And lastly, I should incorporate a few more playful lines into the stuff I play with the band I'm currently in. His chops and techniques remind me to strive to do even better.
