I would like some input for using a digitech whammy pedal for guitar on a bass...

Now, I would love to have a digitech bass whammy pedal but that is out since I am not about to spend upwards of up to $800 on ebay for one so I'm thinking about the other digitech whammys for guitar. Now, I'm torn between the Digitech WH-1 Whammy and the
Digitech XP-100 Whammy-Wah. Some people say that the wh-1 sounds just as good and other says that the xp-100 is really good because it has more options. More options is cool but I am more worried about keeping my tone and having a good sound. So what does anybody think? Which one sound good and keeps tone?

The WH-1 is out of production and will cost probably about as much as a Bass Whammy. The WH-4 is the current model in production. I use a WH-4 and I think it sounds pretty good. There's a little bit of low end loss. Obviously not as good as a WH-1 but still pretty good. Don't know about the Whammy-Wah.

I used to own a WH-4, I sold it when I decided to cut down on effects, I really regret it now. A great pedal, though there are some settings the Bass Whammy and XP-100 have, that the WH-4 doesn't and vice versa (such as the harmony 5th up/1 up setting as used on some Tool songs).

If you're looking for a decent, not too expensive alternative to the Bass Whammy this is probably the best way to go.

This is true, but it's easily solved by blending with your dry signal, though you may end up spending a bit more.

I had the Whammy 4 or whatever, the newest Whammy Reissue. Got some great sounds out of it with bass, it works good. A saxophone player from one of my old bands had the XP-100 Whammy Wah. That thing sounded like garbage, I tried it. Seriously, I hated it. So cheap sounding. I know some guys use them and like them, but don't compare it to the WH-4, in my experience the WH-4 blows the XP-100 out of the water.

Thanks...I was thinking that. I have heard people say that get the xp-100 because it has all these sounds and features and all that. That is cool and all but I like to go for equipment that will sound good and is efficient.
