Ibanez 6 string BTB

Looking at upgrading my bass (Ibanez SR 5 string) and trying out a 6 string. Probably gonna buy a used one because they come up sooo cheap. Any advice on these basses would be appreciated.

My main bass is a btb 6 string... Very comfortable, and great tone. I do have issues with the electronics from time to time, on stage at high volumes it can have a very irritating buzz. In all honesty, I haven't worked too hard to get rid of it.

Very wide array of tones, and a very nice tight feel. The 35 inch neck scale may be something you'll need to get used to. But i have used BTB basses for about 9-10 years now.

I DON'T like the new BTBs, but its a cosmetic thing. What they have done with the Horns is a little disappointing for me. If you take a bit of time to get used to it, its a great bass to have kicking around. Its the only bass I take to practices because It can get me around anything.

This is my main bass, BTB776. It is very smooth playing and i can get a variety of tones out of it. I tried out many basses before buying this one. To me i could get a better sound out of it than my other choices which included schetor, fender, dean, and ltd. I did out a used btb406 but wasn't impressed with the b string so i passed on it. the B on the 776 is solid.

In my opinion the only issue you may have with a BTB 6 string over and SR model is the string spacing. The BTB has way wider spacing at the nut and the bridge. One of my first basses was a SR 4 string. At the time I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. Years later I got a MM Stingray 4 string and love it. I tried to go back to my SR and I didn't like the tight spacing anymore so I sold it. When shopping around for a 5 string I ended up with a BTB because the spacing is the same as a stingray. So my advise is play a BTB 6 before you buy one and make sure you like the spacing.

I like the narrower string spacing of the SR's better myself.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I have played on a few in the shops and I have noticed the string spacing. I'm up for trying something new tho.
The particular one I am looking at right this minute is the older variety with the bolt on neck.
