Ibanez ATK identification assistance needed!

I posted this earlier but I think the title was not helping me out. So here it is as I should have posted it:

I have an Ibanez ATK bass that I cannot seem to find any info on. The first thing that is odd is the stamp on the back of the headstock reads USA0706 0034

I am assuming it is a USA made Ibanez I know Ibanez had a US facility in Bensalem PA that I believe is now closed. I am guessing the model is a 706 and the serial number is 0034. I could be wrong on this?

The bass has the Bunker floating headstock which I have never seen on any other ATK, the fretboard has some nice flame maple figuring on it and the body appears to be a nicely figured Ash. The Ibanez logo is chrome...

With the description above and the photos below, I really hope one of the resident experts can give me some info on my bass. It is a killer bass and sounds great, it is just somewhat of a mystery to me...

never heared of it...
i think its:
either a knock-off, some special edition that they did, someone requested this, its just a mistake in the making(which came out awesome by the way), or(and this is the most reasonable one) its just sold in another country(if youll go the the ibanez site you can choose a country when you enter. in diffrent countries they sell diffrent eqips).
the ibanez atk is a great series!
im happy you enjoy this=]

it looks like the natural finish(with the matching headstock) only colored red... and with a diffrent pickguard. the fret marks are diffrent too. and i dont remember that it has those lines in the back of the neck... is that color or wood?
anyway, it seems really great, and if it sounds good, then who cares?

Go to "The Old Gallery" then to basses then to USATK4 then scroll down a bit and click on the picture and that is your bass. Very nice.

Thanks for the heads up...I wonder how rare this model? I have only seen Asian made ATK basses. This is the first American made ATK that I have run across. I was looking at Bunker's website but got called away...I need to go back later tonight and take a closer look.

It is American made, not a forgery nor was it special order. From what I read there was a line of ATK basses made by David Bunker...it was basically a custom shop ATK, judging by the serial number not very many were made. Mine is SN #0034...that is pretty low.

I am glad I finally have some history on this bass. I have had it for some time now and rarely play it. I guess it is time to set it up and take it for a spin!

I have one of these cool basses & spoke to Mr Bunker on the phone. He walked me thru adjusting the neck sword free floating neck thingamajig.:smug: Mine had a slight back bow. It was fairly simple to do with a good vice & plain old scrumph. I hurt my back BTW!

I really like the bass & to the OP that there's a beauty! :bassist:

There should be a web site & contact info online. It was cool talking with him.
