Ibanez BTB 785

I recently purchased a Ibanez BTB 785 from Sam Ash. It's a limited edition BTB with a piezo system instead of the normal 3 band EQ. It's a great bass, I really like it, lots of cool useable tones. The only thing is this bass is not shown on the Ibanez website and I cannot find a whole lot info on it elsewhere. Anyone out there with info on this bass???

It's a BTB775 with a Fishman piezo system; that's the only difference AFAIK (but a very important one, because it's prolly the closest non Prestige BTB to a boutique bass). So you have a maple/bubinga NT neck and a mahogany body with poplar burl top and Bartolini MK2 pickups & pre. And you're right, it's a limited series edition (sold - I think - only in US) - too bad thse are not available in Europe, I would have bought one as a pair to my BTB770PB ;) .

I'm going to bump this thing out of the cold depths of thread cemetery just to say that this is the exact bass that I have- and I can't find info on it anywhere. I first noticed that none of the manuals or website info on the Ibanez site matches the bass and then a couple of people commented on it (friend and a guy setting it up for me at the store).

Unfortunately I've run out of options too- there is just very little out there in terms of info. IngerAlb actually gave more info than I've found anywhere else, which was helpful. I got mine with a 'factory-second' stamp but no one could figure out what was 'wrong' with it so we think it was used in a booth at a show or something.

Cool that they're so rare. :)

I just bought my (used) BTB5PQM.

It also has the piezo bridge pickups and the Fishman preamp.

Mine has Bart's and the trim adjustments in the back,

and like you guys, even after calling Ibanez, I still can't find much info on my model either except from description of my bass from what looks like earlier sales:

- Quilted maple top (AAAAA)

- Specific mororail bridge (19mm spacing)

- piezzo pick-ups in bridge (RMC)

- Custom Bartolini pick-ups

- Specific electronic for magnetic pick-ups & piezzos

For magnetic pickups :

Volume

Balance

Tone

And for Piezzos :

Volume

Tone

- Matching headstock with abalone inlays.

- Pao ferro fretboard

- Maple / Bubinga neck (with two double action truss rod)

- Gotoh ultralite tuners

Considering an upgrade to a preamp that will allow me to still use the piezzos.

Your bass may share some of these specs.
....and can we see some pics please!?
