Ibanez BTB + Acoustic = Groovin'?

So when I first started to play bass about 5 years ago I was never going for the mellow sound. I was more of a Casualties, Anti-Flag, Rancid kind of guy then got into the whole metalcore thing which is a lot of fun to play so I've always been into Ibanez. Thin, fast neck and an active EQ for the obligatory Treble and Bass boost used in todays hardcore.

Long story short, the metal scene is starting to bore me and I've recently gotten into the older stuff like The Clash and some psychobilly [Tiger Army, Koffin Kats, The Meteors, etc.] and I've been pleasantly surprised that my Ibanez BTB575 in combination with my Acoustic B20 practice amp is acutally holding down that nice, creamy, full sound that perfect for just grooving.

I don't really have a question or anything in this post, I just felt like I needed to share in case there were any people like me who thought that the newer Ibanez models were one trick ponies! This bass surprises me everyday.

I have a BTB555 and it's my favorite (I have 8 basses now). So that is saying a lot. It's a real tone bank. It still has the stock Elixers on it and they still sound great. I'm curious how it will sound with different strings but don't really see the need to change just yet. I've got three sets of 5 string nickels on the way from Naked Strings. I might have to try them out at least for curiosities sake but as I said I like the sound of the Elixirs. Great sounding bass with the Barts. Nice and warm like I like it, but It'll give you a decent slap tone if that's what you want that as well. The Accoustic B-20 is probably one of the best sounding 20 watt amp in it's price range (got mine for $100 new). I used to have one and sold it not too long ago. The only down side is that it's big for a 20 watt amp (maybe that's partly why it sounds good).

I agree, my band plays covers ranging from 50s rock n roll, blues and blues rock, punk, heavy rock, pop, 60s, the BTB770 covers them all nicely, I love the active EQ though, can go from mellow to thundering with ease

I have a BTB 1305e Prestige with Barts and the Bart pre. It's an amazing bass, especially given what I paid for it (love buying used!).

It's been in the hands of players such as Roy Vogt and Adam Nitti, and both of them were complimentary of it's tone and build quality. My current teacher tells me is must be the best bass Ibanez ever made. (Highly doubtful as the custom Ibanez I saw Adam playing a few weeks ago was pretty dang nice).

Tonally, it had a very wide, flat frequency range. Playing with the EQ and blend pot can yield a lot of tones.
