ibanez btb1000 - old notes keep ringing after muted ?

Hey guys, I just picked up an Ibanez btb1000.

I noticed that it's tracking the notes after they're muted on the fretboard.

For instance if I play a note, then move up to the next fret on the same string... You'll briefly hear the previous note still through the amp. So it sounds out of tune. but its the last note still ringing..

Any idea what this is?
It's not the amp(hartke 5500), becuase I tried my other bass just now.

I would guess your neck has counter-bowed and you are getting ever-so-slight rattling or contact with a fret and that's causing the harmonic to ring out after the note is done. I would look at raising your action very slightly. You could adjust the neck if it's out or raise the bridge saddles, you'd only need to do it very little and might not even notice the higher action.
