Ibanez btb1306e vs. btb676 (or 776)?

I'm ready to buy any one of these models second hand, but I'm trying to figure out what makes the Prestige (1306e) model worth six or seven hundred dollars more than the others. I know it's better, but is it that much better? thanks

Me too wanna know. To my eyes there is only the cosmetic difference, 1306e looks more expensive. And the country of origin, 1306e is made in Japan, while the 676 is made in Korea.

I just purchased a used 1306e and getting used to it as I type basically. Built well, great components. Sounds good though I am getting ready to put on new strings... the ones that where on it are horrible. It feels like it is built well. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I will do my best to answer. I have not played any of the other models.

Just three questions:
- What do you think of the 35" neck and how is playability in general on the 1306e?

- What pickups/preamp are installed? the 676 has the Bartolini Mk2 which some here say it's much better than the Mk1 found on most of the SR series.

- How is the string spacing compared to a 4-string ibanez SR?

Thanks.

I like 35 inch scales.... if you have small hands it could potentially be a drag. A lot of basses are 35 inch scale I would grab one and try it out. I believe the pickups on here are the same as the new btbs mkii.
THe electronics are different for there is a mid select and sweep that is very cool for tone shaping. The spacing is exactly like others have said. It is good, not as wide as some but not as narrow as others. Basically I dig it. I am into playing chords and I have large hands so it works well for me. I dont know much about the Ibanez four strings.
I wouldn't say this is a warm sounding bass. You can get warmer tones out of it but it is not like my Ken Smith.

You can ge the specs online too. I believe the string spacing is 19.
I think the 1306e is NOT a great bang for the buck. Also you may notice the bridge is a different model. I believe the ones on the 1306e are of better quality.
Hope this helps. I hesitated on exactly the same thing. I found a few used ones from guitar center and talked them down in price.

Thanks people. I still can't decide if the Prestige model is worth that much more than the 676/776. I guess I'll just have to scoop up the first good deal that comes along. Today I'm going to buy a new SR506 with straplocks and an SKB case for $400. That'll get me through until I can find the one I really want. I wish they had a BTB with the wenge/bubinga neck like the SR506. That would cinch my decision.

I was seriously considering getting a prestige series, never worked out though. The tone was great, played great, felt solid. I didn't have the same impressions with the lower end btb series. It was fine, but didn't have the same tonal character. Didn't have "soul". Just wasn't it, IMO. Make sure you play before you buy. The prestige was worth double the price if you ask me.
