Ibanez BTB776PB or BTB745? Pros and Cons

I'm thinking of either getting a Ibanez BTB776PB or a BTB745.
Can you tell me your pros and cons?
I am determined to find out all I can about these 2 Basses to figure out which one to buy.
I'm coming from playing a 4 string.
BTB776PB is $500 less than the BTB745.

Also, it'd be cool if anyone could tell me their experience going from a 4 to 5 string or 4 to 6 string bass. I've been playing 4 string bass for 11 years now. I think I'd get used to a 5 or 6 string bass with a week or 2.

Cheers,
Nathan

I have a BTB776pb and I looovveee it other than the stock pickups are a touch lifeless. Coming from a four string, expect some shock, it's a BIG bass. Very wide spacing, and fairly heavy. With that said, once you get used to it, you'll love it. Mines wonderful ☺

Any Ibanez BTB is an excellent bass, you're winning either way.

What is most important right now is for you to figure out whether you want a 5 or 6- string bass.
Ok thanks for the input. I'm leaning towards the six string cause a few of my lines need a higher string. Popping high up on my 24 fret 4 string bass doesn't produce a nice enough sound.

I'm definitely moving towards that one. I played a rather heavy bass for 5 years. It's a 5kg Canora Bass. It has a very long neck :help: I don't think I'll have a problem with the 6 strings fretboard width but just in case, I'll head to some music stores to try out some 6 string basses with the same fret board dimensions. Thank you very much for the reply.

Be careful about weight. Btb's can make heavier than 5-6 kilos especially 5+ string models.
You said you don't want to play on 24th fret so I think you should go for 6 string. Maybe compare btb776 vs btb746??

I had a 776PB for a while. Sounded every bit as good as an old Prestige 1005e (Japanese) I had (the 776 maybe had slightly lower ourput), and the PB had effortless action, too. But, it was on the weighty side...11.6 lbs. Yes, it is a big bass.
