Ibanez Ergonomic Headless Bass (EHB) club

@Herrick the stock preamp is a great unit and doesn't NEED to be swapped out. But, there's amazing after market preamps that are dang amazing and you might want different EQ points to control or maybe a 4 band. In my case I want a 4 band so it'll get swapped out but it's a preference. The John East Uni Pre was the other preamp unused before the tone capsule, I still have it and it might find it's way into this one if I don't go with the Noll TCMX 4 band.

That's cool. It's always good to have options.

Picked up this bass from the classifieds here about a year ago (EHB1505), and decided to give it a crazy new paint job. I used magic marble paints, and a 2k spray can clear coat. Sprayed the Nordstrand covers gold, and picked up some custom dragon eye knobs off reverb, along with some new block sticker inlays, and an Ibanez decal....

Nice!
Where did you get the Ibanez decal?

I joined the club yesterday with a used EHB1005SMS. New to me as it's my 1st multi scale and I am normally used to my 34"/35" basses. I also choose the EHB1005SMS BECAUSE of the Bartolini oldschool sound. The sound fits much better to my 60s/70s 10-piece RnB band and my Jazztrio than the rather agressive Northstrands.

And yes, I know the forum policy:

Nice - I don´t think the Nordstrand ZenBlades are aggressive - maybe we will meet on the next Bassic meeting in Cologne then you could try out this one:

I've also played the EHB1505MS with Nordstrands at the MusicStore but still prefer the old school sound of the Bartolinis. May be it's because I mainly play Jazz and 60/70/80 tunes and am not so much in favour of metal or distorted sounds. But it's also the short/mid scale of the EHB1005SMS attracting me, making some left hand spreads possible, which I am not able to play on a long scale bass.

As we all know the Ibanez "gig bag" is subpar. Before I have used the gator transit in electric guitar size and the fit was good and snug . Sometimes I had to remove the extra pad at the head. This time I tried out this rigid soft shell and I'm super pleased. There's videos of people driving vehicles over guitars in this case and coming out unscathed.
The only fix I needed was the big gap at the head so I borrowed the pads from my transit bag and all is well. I am going to email gator and see if they have a or might come out with a head side pad.
Over all I love this bag and if I ever need a bad for my full size basses I'll be ordering another one.

For us headless heathens this is the link for the one we would need.
