ibanez jtkb 200 anyone played one?

I love the looks but cant find many reviews (none actually) just seeing if any of you guys may have ran across one.

I work for a dealer who carries Ibanez. I was curious what my price would be for one, so I had my manager jump on our dealer website to check prices. The model isn't even listed yet, so I don't think they are shipping just yet.

Hey, does anyone have any hands on experience with this bass? I really dig the look and possibilities... Particularly, I'm wondering about weight, performance, etc. I would like to learn about this bass before spending the money.

I like the look a LOT. One of my complaints about Ibanez is the overly "modern" look of their basses. This makes me happy!

It's a little weighty, but fairly versatile and an easy player.

The neck is a little chunky, but in my opinion, not horribly so. The twin humbuckers sound really great, and the bass has sustain for days. It has a P-style neck, so it's wide compared to other bass necks (like Jazz Bass necks).

The bridge is well built, high-mass, and with squared saddles to reduce rattling. The configuration is volume/volume/tone, so you can solo either pickup or blend them to your liking. The tone knob does its jobs and provides several shades of gray as opposed to a cheap "full on/full off" knob.

The neck is a joy to play (once again). Satin finish, hard rosewood, bound. Not a rough fret edge. The tuners stay in tune.

Finally, it looks cool. Go for it.


(Note: I don't own this bass, but I tend to play it whenever I go into Guitar Center, and my friend owns this model, so I've had a lot of play time on one of these.)

Here's the red one. They also made a limited edition which was Olympic White with a tortoise shell pickguard. Beautiful bass.

I've been thinking of getting one of these for a while.
There's a newer model out with 3 single coils and on/off switches for each. Has anyone played either of them? They're the same price and I don't know which I should get.

Sorry for resurrecting this rather old thread, but do you guys think any of the EMGs would fit the JTKB200 version (thinking of soapbars maybe)? Also, what size J pickup would fit the JTKB300, the one made for bridge position or the neck position one? Just curious.

I bought my self a used one, just because it looked cool. Then I played it and wow, this bass is B!TCH!N!!! and, contrary to popular belief it has two single coil pick ups, not humbuckers. This is now my favorite bass of all time and Ive been playing since the early 80's. sustain for days, unbeatable tone out of a passive pick up bass. I play in a thrash metal band where we tune to drop "D" all the way across. I also play in a 80/90s cover band with straight tuning and this bass works PERFECTLY in both tuning systems, which is WEIRD but yea, it works perfectly. I am now searching to a get at least one more for a back up but two would be nice also. It looks, sounds and plays like a dream and in this case it is too good and it is true!
