I'm thinking of getting a new SR.

I am unfamiliar with the newer Ibanez PowerSpan pickups.

What's the collective feeling about them?

I play modern metal and need something that sounds full when clean and good with overdrive and distortion.

Will these fit the bill? What's a better stock humbucker?

    Thanks

They're the best stock (Ibanez-branded) pickups Ibanez have used since the PFR (Passive Full-Range) that they used to put in the SR eXtreme (SRX).
Better than the Bartolinis they're putting in the SR500E, IME.

I love them. My main bass was an Ibanez SR705F that I had upgraded to the better Bartolini pickups and preamp, and I bought an SR375EF fretless as a backup. After playing it in practice a few times and live just once, I put the 705 up for sale. I'm really impressed with the stock Powerspan pickups and the electronics. I had assumed I would upgrade them, but I feel no need.
