Ibanez SR1500

Can someone tell me the functions of the control knobs for the Ibanez SR1500?

Let's say you have the Bass strapped on (right handed player) and you are looking down at the knobs. From Left to right, top/bottom, top/bottom what does each knob do?

Better yet, does anyone know where I can get a manual for this Bass that has this info?

Thanks!

Well, pictures of your bass would help.

Here you go...

I believe it is an early 90's model. I pulled the neck, and it says SR1500S in the neck pocket. It also does no have a cutout for a 9v battery in the back if that helps. The pickups are EMG's which were stock for this model. Let me know if you need anything else.

Hi if the bass is stock the eq system is Ibanez EQ BII..which is voume and pick up balancer are the two knobs close to you when playing the bass..the two bottom ones are eq...bass boost n cut and treble boost n cut....unless they have put a EMG BTS eq which is the same format in it.to determine this you would have to take the control panel off and look inside...if you can post a photo of the wiring inside that might help

hope that is of som help..

Thanks man,
That is exactly what i needed. Unfortunately, it sounds like the treble pot is not working. I'm wondering if its the pot or some other component. Anyway, here is a shot of control cavity:

Hi thanks for the pic..nice n clear..ive compard the pic to the eq i have taken out of my 87 SR800 and its the Ibanez EQBII and its the same..
One thing i noticed when i first bought my bass was that i thought the treble eq wasnt working as i was so used to the hiss from the treble eq on basses i had before when i turn it up...it was working..just very silent and with no tell tale hiss...
So if the EMGs are working with Ibanez eq system..you could also use the currently available BTS system....volume..balancer..bass boost cut..treble boost cut..4 controls..simpe drop in retrofit to your bass.

Best Bass Gear here on the net i have found is the go to for this sort of stuff...

Hope you get your bass sorted out..i played a earlier model SR1500 in a music shop here in Sydney many years ago whic had the Power curve eq with Dimarzio USA pick ups..i should have bought it

all the best

Thanks Leslie,
On my bass I know that the knob in question did function at one time. I could definitely hear it doing something. Is it possible to replace the pot, and if so where would I find a pot like that? It appears to be integrated into the IC board.

I recently purchased a SR 1500S and have the same situation. I can hear the high end but the change is subtle when turning the knob both ways. My? is this a normal function for this particular preamp as I have the ibanez pre as stated in the above posts. Everything works fine bass boost almost distorts when you turn it up. Found out that the 1500S was made for the Japanese market only and made for one year 1991 to 1992. thanks JD.

The Ibanez EQBII pre amp is very quiet..it's a active Lo Z system similar to the EMG BTS system.when i bought my '87 SR800Le which had the same EQBII back in day i turned up the treble control expecting to hear the hiss of pre amps i'd had before..it's working that's for sure

Leslie
Thanks for the response, but after using headphones I cant hear any difference in the tone, it stays the same no matter where you turn the knob so I ordered a Audere classic pre, that should improve the sound.
