Ibanez SR305 or Fender Squier P?

I have an Ibanez SR305 that's been nothing but a pain since I got it back in the summer of 2010. Goes out of tune easily, pretty rattly.....I've had several setups done by Pro Techs in my area and they just can't seem to get a setup that's comfortable for me to play. I'm more of a P or J fan in terms of Neck feel and tone, body weight, etc. I'm thinking about trading it for some store credit to put towards a Squier P or J, maybe the Mike Dirnt signature. I just spent a good chunk of change on a Schecter Diamond P 5 String which is amazing and would like to have a DECENT back up Bass without dishing out another $500 +. Are Squier's worth it? I've heard good things about them other than the Affinity series. Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

I've owned both basses that you are talking about.
First of all, I don't understand why your Ibanez would go out of tune? I've never had a bass that would go out of tune?!?! Does it do that all the time? When you slap? Anyway...

The thing is that Ibanez bass guitars are cheap and the sound fairly well (at least for the price). I personally don't like playing on a SR unless it's a 6 strings...but anyway...it does the job.

About the Squier Bass, when it comes to sound, it totally sucks. I've had a lot of bass guitars, and this one was the worst. I did enjoy playing on it, but don't plug it! It ruins everything.

That's pretty much what I had to say....they are both cheap to purchase and they both look good, but the Ibanez will sound much better.

I would personally go for the Ibanez.

I'd go with the Squire. I've owned a Ibanez SR645 and still have an Ibanez SR885 that's I still can't get rid of.... I've never played a squire, but own 3 fenders and imagine they play/sound quite similar.
