I just acquired an ibanez sr405qm and if I turn the volume on the bass past 1/4 turn or so it just sounds awful. I've changed the battery about 3 times and I've looked at my connections and nothing seems out of the ordinary, could it be a bad pre-amp? Also when I turn the treble knob up it does sort of the same thing but turning the bass knob barely does anything

Ibanez sr405qm distorting problem

Possibly a weak connection tho it may look ok-
some of the treble signal goes thru, but the bass signal req's more, so doesn't.
It could be a battery pigtail wire is mostly broken through, and only one strand left.
Could be a component in the preamp also, but I'd go thru all the connections first.
