Ibanez SR500 vs BTB670

So I went to my local store, to try the two, and I dug them both. A lot!
Now.. I have only played for about 18 months, so I'm not the best bass player, and I mostly play Rock and Metal, and I think they both fit pretty good.
The problem is, I haven't had them on long term, so I have no idea what problems may have been there, and whatnot.

What's the pros and cons of the two basses?
Why the one over the other?

Thanks in advance!

Is the BTB neck thicker?
The one I tried today had a pretty wide fretboard (they didn't have the 4 string in stock), but I thought it had a very nice agressive sound, and the strings were pretty close to the neck, which felt pretty damn nice, and gave a nice agressive sound that I liked.
The SR500 just felt better!

Yes, BTBs have thicker and wider necks as part of their design - supposedly that's where that beefy deep tone comes from. They're also 35 scale basses. The difference between the 5ers is significant because the BTBs have 19 mm string spacing, while the SRs only 16,5 mm - so those necks are thinner, but in the same time slapping can get tricky if you're used with a wider fretboard and standard string spacing.

I prefer the Ibanez Soundgear SR 500's to SR 700's over all of the other Ibanez bass models. I have played a few BTB's and I really don't care for them at all.

They are both pretty good basses. Really comes down to which you prefer (or do what i did, and buy both! :D). However, if it means anything the SRs are more popular and sort of the flagship of Ibanez' bass lineup, and for good reason. BTBs can feel wierd or even uncomfortable for some people.

Ive played the ibanez sr500 and loved the bass. it works well for your genre of music and fits it well too.But one thing i noticed about the sr500 is that the wood near the pick ups somtimes chips off. I saw a used one at guitar center and it had wood chipped away which ruined the look.im pretty sure that happend because of the slapping and popping.or mabye the previous owner abused it. But i love how the bass weights so little and how you can play any type of music with it.
