Ibanez SR500 vs Musican Slo Special

My 1st bass is a used Ibanez SR500. I could tell it was not played much. Built in 2006 and still had the original strings. I really like the action. Had a new set of strings installed and that's it. After I knew I'd be doing this a while I figured I'd need a backup Bass and sprung for a brand spank'in new Musicman Slo Special from Musicians Friend. Beautiful instrument. My only problem is I can't seem to get the action to be comparable to the Sr500. It's easy enough to adjust but I begin getting fret noise when the strings are lowered. What Gives? Is it me or my Musicman?

You should be able to get the action as low or lower on the MusicMan than the Ibanez.

If you are adjusting the saddles too low and you have little to no relief in the neck, you'll get buzz. Usually once you get a good bridge setup for the strings you prefer, you generally only need to make minor adjustments to the neck with the truss rod wheel for seasonal changes.

When in doubt, bring it to a qualified technician in your area.

Guess I need a tech. because I have no idea what the Bass Side/Treble Side is in the following paragraph from the Musicman guide.

"Factory String heights for a 4 string bass are: Bass side 3/32" to 7/64" Treble side: 5/64" to 7/64" from the top of the 12th fret to the bottom of the string. The rest of the strings should have the radius of the fretboard when looking at the top of the string, (with the A string hidden from view by the E string, etc.), rotating the bass at the same time.

What are they saying??

The treble side is the thinnest string (G-string). The bass side is the thickest string (E-string on a 4-string bass).
