I like SR506; I don't like the horn, so I did a quick & dirty mock up of what a single cut might look like, inspired by clement's 289 & 280 models. Hellfire any Clement.
My ideal bass would be a lightweight singlecut 6. Problem is, no dinero. But I have a saw. I have a disc sander & hand files, & sand paper aint so much dough & I can find a 506 < $500. Hmph.

Just a warning, it will probably end up being very neck heavy.

Yeah. I'll alleviate that by cutting off the headstock & first few frets! No, I won't.

They balance nicely as designed, so as Tom said, it's likely to dive. It might also feel ergonomically different with the strap button relocated so far towards the bridge. If you're going to do it, you should also know that's called a "mahogany" finish, but its' basically a dark stain sprayed onto an open pored mahogany body, which is much, much lighter under the stain. You'll probably need to refinish the whole body once you're horn is modified...

Yeah it probably won't work. That body is already small as it is. I like thte look.

I like your design more than most single cuts I've seen - sort of Tele-ish.
  7. I really like the look. It might work if this was built from scratch as a short scale 4 string.

Thanks PDgood & irnonfingers I was actually looking at a pic of a tele trying to copy it when I did this. good catch.
  9. The OP's (re) design looks a lot like Warmoth's in house 32" single cutaway.

Warmoth used to offer a single cut at 34" scale, but apparently discontinued it.

Go headless with a heavy body and light neck and you might be fine
    Geoff St. Germaine likes this.

Yeah. It's just a rough draft, not a real project.
