Ibanez SRS-606 vs BTB25TH6

I currently own an Ibanez SRS606e and enjoy playing it. I potentially have the opportunity to get the BTB25TH6. It's a great looking bass.

I know there are some differences in the string spacing, pick ups and scale length. Does anyone have experience of playing SRS 5 or 6 strings and BTB 5 or 6 strings? Was there a big difference in sound and feel?

Just wanted to get an idea of people's thoughts. I might be able to try out the BTB in the near future.

I have a couple of SR 6s and 5s and a BTB846v, which is a little different to the other BTB 6s (33" scale 16.5mm spacing), so here's my 2c worth.

The BTB neck will be fractionally wider, and flatter, but you might not notice or care all that much. My Cort A6 is 17mm and I don't notice it at all. I've tried 35" BTBs as I lusted after an 1806 for a while, couldn't get one and stumbled on to the 846v which I love. It will feel bigger than the SRs because the body is larger and they hang differently on me. It's not bad, just different and I'm sure I'd adapt in no time and I don't recall the reach to first position being critical, especially as I'm seldom up there. Some people also don't like the ridge on the body on the BTBs where some place their forearm; it's not an issue for me, but it might be for you.

There are plenty of Nordy BS clips out there on YT to see if you like the sound of them.

Try it first as ergonomics and feel are very personal.

Yep I think it's going to come down to the feel. I like the sound of the nordys on the SRS and the from what I've heard of the nordys on the BTBs.

Hey Vishyyy, how are ya? Was just wondering if you went for the BTB25TH6 in the end. I am currently looking at buying one as well as an alternative to my SR1400 which also has the Nordies Big Singles (best pickups i've ever had, tbh :cool:). I was hoping you could let me know how she feels & plays. There are no reviews out there. Thanks!
