Ibanez SRX550SA 600$ 62% off 250$

Hey guys I just recently got a SamAsh (usually shop GC but bought an acoustic from them) catalog in the mail. The Ibanez SRX550 was in there 62%:hiding: off the original price of 500$. I know this because GC still has it at 500$, and it seems like Ibanez may be discontinuing the line. :crying: WTH YOU SAY?:bawl: I agree. This bass's finish is kick ass! I mean it looks awesome! But what I really want to know is if anyone out there enjoys this bass. I play Funk/Punk/Rock. I usually buy basses that get the kind of RHCP/Flea tone. I was looking at the Sterling Ray34's but there about 500$ over the price of this 250$ Ibanez with two hums. I don't know, the Sterling's give the sound I want, and I was just wondering if the Ibanez SRX550 could be a cheaper alternative. Also I was looking at the 4-string one humbucker Ibanez ATK's. You tell me!

Thanks guys!:help:

SRX has a very aggressive tone. But I think its versitile enough to for those genres, definitely rock.

Heres a clip i did for someone else for another post

Most of its little clips of metallica songs since he wanted to know how it sounded for metal. but the last little bit is some RHCP. My strings are pretty old in this recording so with new strings its going to have alot more growl and punch.

This is an SRX650 btw

If you like the tone then go for it. 250 bucks is less than what I paid for mine used.

I just bought it! :) I love it! The reason why I bought it was that I needed a bass (a replacement for my Music Man Sterling which was way too heavy for me to carry), and I bought it because the pickups are very similar to the Sterling. I love it, it's lightweight, and definitely a cheaper alternative :) I have the Black Arctic Frost one as well... I have played so many expensive basses, and they were all too heavy for me or they weren't punchy enough. I hope this helps!

Seems like Ibanez has been discontinuing a number of intermediate models in the SR and SRX lines. More SRX price drops here...

I also heard somewhere (here?) that the SR405 is going away...
