One interesting variance to other like-basses are the wide outer linings. Usually they are more narrow. I have my doubts about the bass being pre-1900. Lola like a great instrument in good health, bet it's a thumper!

I don't think it's pre-1900 either at this point. The Czech tag in it makes it impossible to be older than 1918. Mystery origin, no reason to doubt it's a Hofner, I'm calling it 1920 at this point, just because luthiers think the varnish color or type or whatever makes it seem older, but really it's just a factory bass. But, she's my factory bass!

Good character and speaks really well, if I don't put too much tension on her. Good working instrument.

Hey I don't mean to revive an old thread but I just recently bought a bass off of craigslist and it has the exact same KH made in Czechoslovakia label. I'm really interested in finding out what it could mean.
