Second page of this .pdf document, being played by Jonas Hellborg. It's not a great picture. It almost looks like it could be a Warwick headstock, but I have not seen any brand with this bodyshape before.

It's either a Wechter or Warwick custon shop... not sure, but a 5'ver version with a high C would be pretty cool!

I had thought of Wechter (those horns) - an electric bass would be a big departure from Abe Wechter's usual work.

    J-Raj,

Thought you might be interested to know that Jonas has a new album, 'Kali's Son', coming out in Nov/Dec. It's a trio of JH, Selvaganesh on kanjira and Niladri Kumar on the 'zitar', a five-string sitar that he runs through all sorts of effects. Sounds promising.

An article from earlier this year:

And now back to your scheduled programming...

Headstock looks like a Drozd...if we're talking about the guy on the left. If it's Jonas, I've got no idea.

Very cool stuff! Thanks for that. I"ve been digging that indo-fusion thing... Natraj is also a bad to hear.

Justateenpoet, that might Carles Benevente that you are thinking about with Drozd bass.

As for the Warwick looking element, I do remember that they made an ABG, so designed with TM Stevens... Maybe this is the dbl-cut version of it... with no sound hole.

I emailed Warwick but have had no reply so far.

However, have swapped a couple of emails with Dave Marks, who also played at the event. He confirmed that Hellborg's bass is a Warwick custom built for him. It's actually a solidbody  and weighs an absolute tonne.

That thing's solid? Holy crap! :eyebrow:

  12. Interesting! The shape is clearly modelled on his acoustic Wechter, but it looked to have a carved top. I wonder what the specs are?
