Ideal bass with 2 p-bass pickups

Hello

I am new to this forum. I am an huge admirer of the fender p bass sound. I am seriously thinking of purchasing a bass with 2 p-bass pickups. The only bass I know of that fits that category is the BC Rich Mockingbird. I also really love the sound of the Mockingbird after hearing Nigel Griggs on early 80s Split Enz albums. My only reservation about the Mockingbird is that I hear it is not good for slapping. Could somebody please elaborate on this?

I was also thinking of getting a fretless bass (with two p bass pups). So in that case in terms of getting a fretless bass with two p bass pickups that is good for slapping, I am trying to decide whether to purchase the BC Rich Mockingbird de-fretted or going to a custom bass builder such as Warmoth to have a specially built fretless bass with two p-bass pups. Please let us know your suggestions. Cheers.
