Ideas for a preamp

Interesting that everyone is mad on the Sansamp RPM but noone has mentioned the RBI.
I prefer the RBI over the RPM purely because I hate mid-freq tone knobs. (I don't get on well with them, I prefer a straight forward mid knob)
Anyway, that's my 2 pennies.
Anyone else prefer the RBI?

Can you name a few quality pedals that can push a Crown XTi4000?

SansAmp ParaDriver or SansAmp Bass Driver, they are the pedal versions of the RPM and RBI. They go for $200 new. I use two ParaDivers into my Crown XLS 1000. ( I run wet and dry channels into separate cabinets.) I prefer the ParaDriver to the BassDriver because of the parametric eq.

Nope, I've had both and much prefer the RPM. They are quite different tonally, more than just the difference in mid and presence controls. RBI was always way too scooped sounding and clanky in the top end for me, but it certainly works for some folks and is another quality piece of gear.

I never heard exactly what the issue was with the WTDI units.. so it was a power supply problem?

Now that they've solved that is the WTDI a good preamp/DI to use?

I've got enough 'scooping' in my system with an Aggie GS410 and my Warwick. It sounds the like the Para Driver and RPM are what I might be interested in for SansAamp.
Question on the SansAmp equipment: Do you end up sounding like you are playing through an Ampeg without actually having an Ampeg? Or that is a misconception that I have. I like Ampeg but that is not what I hear in my head for my sound though I loved the SVT 810 and 410 HLF cabs that I used to own.

Like I said, there's a simple work around for what I experienced. It was still a pretty odd problem for a new model.

I want to buy/try an EBS MicroBass II. How would that match up driving a Crown XTi? Awesome I'll bet.

Nah, I think you can get some of that vibe depending on how you EQ it and how dirty you run it, but there are a lot of nice tones to be had IMO. The EQ is pretty powerful, but a lot of the flexibility comes from the drive and blend controls.
