Ideas to extend top strap button for better balance

Hi,
yesterday I tried to add 1 schaller strap button in addition to the one already mounted on upper horn to extend the hooking point of the shoulder strap ... the result was an improvement in the balancing of the bass ... there is a better solution? instead of adding one strap button, I can put a washers?
others ideas?

I use a plastic bushing, contouring one end against the top horn, painted black (or matching). Get an extra long heavy duty screw and you're all set. I'll have to measure mine but some have used longer versions on hornless basses. Every little bit helps.

No, but there are bushings!

There's probably some type of ACE-esque hardware store in Italy. The big difference is the lady at the check-out will pack you a lunch for the long walk to your car in the parking lot.

Totally depends on the screw you use. You could go 4” if you had a long enough screw, like 3/16” - 1/4” but think of the hole in the bass. Yuck.

The longer you make an overhang, the stronger it will need to be to resist bending.
If you were looking for a better method to mount a longer extension, consider installing a stud in your bass that is wood thread on one side and machine thread on the other. Use a solid extension drilled and tapped to go on the stud, then drilled and tapped to mount a strap button on the other, or got really high speed and have a strap button turned into the end of your extension. Make the extension from aluminum or titanium and it will not add much weight.

I would need to extend by 0.4 inch .. I would put it between the straplock pin and the body so as to move the strap hooking

Is the goal to get the pin to extend to the 11th fret, or does it depend on the bass?

Just keep inspecting it. Occasionally Take it off, inspect the screw for stress, put it back making sure that the screw goes back in the threads already cut in the wood. Don’t put too much torque on it. Just snug it up and keep it snug.
