Double Bass identify my bass

Well I didn't exactly know if it was good or not. I am an easy going person anyways. People are clearly discouraging me from geting the bass anyways. I think I'll keep my money. No harm no foul. Let me know how you like your new bass.

It's not my bass, man.
The thread is titled "Identify MY bass" by Chris1125.
Dude, the passive aggressive private messages that you've been sending me are whiney. If you want the bass, buy the bass. Don't be mad if another person finds the store and inquires about it.

Inquiring is NOT buying, it's asking.
Buy it if you want it and quit complaining.

Notice I deleted that part. I am by no means trying to start an argument gator, I am just saying to stop messing with me. I you want the bass it's yours. Your the one pointing yourself out as the bad guy here, just stop spaming my post.
Thank you

1. I'm not a bad guy.
2. I'm not messing with you.

You deleted your passive aggressive and also contradicting statement which was your attempt to call me out because I called a store and asked a question. So What?

4. No harm no foul, right?

Leave me alone.

I made no intention to call you out. I mentioned it as the reason I probobly wouldn't get the bass and you decided to defend yourself. This is not the place for that conversation.

Should I post all the little messages that you sent me in my email? You are a liar.

Check the bass bar. Check to make sure the soundpost is the correct length and in a proper place. Hold a lighter an inch from the F Hole and smack the opposite side of the top to see if it's sealed.

See here's the thing, how do you know if the bass bar is bad? Somebody told me that it should not be seperated at the ends. Is there anything else to look for? I already took a look at the soundpost and it didn't raise any alarms for me.

I uploaded a ton more pics f the neck and around the bridge, also the side and bottom cracks. There is a gap between the bottom nut (is that what its called?) and the body. Other then that, still looks very solid to me.

Offer $500 bucks, invest $300, and there 'ya go. If you like the sound, who cares about all that other crap. If (or when) it eventually self-destructs, you will only be out $800 bucks. If you get 5 years out of it, it's totally worth it.

How's that for some nice commenting.

See this is more what I was hoping for haha... If it was not for the front of this bass, doesn't the rest look pretty solid? The side repairs are clearly professional and bairly noticeable. The only big red flag to me is the possible sinkage. If I got a few years out of it (which I think I could considering how solid it looks and feels) what's the difference? I would be more then comfortable taking the top off myself and atleast attempting a repair of some sort if it self distructs. Or if I couldn't, I could probobly still make most of the money back selling it on ebay. :hiding:

I haven't edited this thread, but if it gets contentious again, anything hinting of disrespect will be deleted. Remember it's the internet, folks, and people can't always judge tone or body language by text alone. Private messages are called what they are for a reason - the "P" doesn't stand for "public". Any disputes between members should be handled off board: either by private exchange between members; or failing that, by appealing to the moderators of the forum by reporting posts in question; or failing, that, by bringing in the site admins by clicking on the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of any forum page.

Or, we could all just play nice and avoid disputes as much as possible.

My take on the bass: if it was me, I'd listen to KungFu and Molly and take a pass on this bass, If you want a beater jazz bass, get a Shen SB80 and get it well set up, and you'll have a good sounding bass that will last you forever if you take moderately good care of it. The bass in the pictures looks pretty sketchy to me. Maybe it would be a good learning bass for someone who wants to dip their toes in luthiery, but other than that, I'd take a pass. YMMV.

Any guy who can get his cat to pose with the bass deserves an applause! Thanks Chris, I think I'll follow that advise.
