Identify This Bass...

I have seen the bass nerds identify some really difficult basses in the past, so I have one for you. The dealer calls this a "Gothic Bass" - he has a 4 string and a 5 string version in the store... the 4 string came home with me!

The 5 string version is strung E-A-D-G-C, has the same pre-amp, and has a bolt on neck.

Here are pictures... if anyone knows anything about the bass/luthier, I would appreciate it.

Wow, very nice. Yeah, that's someone's mark on the headstock, I don't know whose, hope someone here does. Looks like excellent work, nice bass.

The body shape reminds me of a Godlyke, but it isn't one. I feel like I've seen the headstock and even the logo somewhere before but I can't place it. Overall it's pretty nice, I like the matching control cover. G tuner is slightly crooked though, not sure if intentional.

The machines are actually slightly touching each other... you can see it on the reverse picture of the headstock. I think the narrowness of the headstock caused to to "need" to be slightly mis-aligned. The 5 string version doesn't have the same problem. (The 5 string version is tuned EADGC... I'm really thinking about adding it! No more it kind of is like having a standard bass AND a tenor bass...)

... and thanks to everyone for their help so far... I'm hoping someone knows something... or I'll make up my own story about following a path that led to a waterfall, that's where my guide would no longer take me. He simply pointed indicating that I cross under the waterfall.

After walking through the waterfall, there was a dimly lit cavern lit by torches, which upon further inspection were burning necks of bass guitar necks from other brands... no doubt, an offering to whatever it was that they served...

I saw a man, talking to wood... asking it what it wanted to become. I started to speak, but he waved his hand at me so I stood in silence.

For 2 days, we stayed in that same position... him... talking to the wood, and me... not taking another step in fear of offending the elder.

As I sat on the rock, drifting in and out of consciousness with pangs of hunger pricking my stomach and the dryness of my tongue craving water thinking about turning and walking away, a young man came and offered me drink.

The older man laughed a jagged tooth smile and said "yes... worthy."

As they helped me down the path, we emerged into a beautiful valley and showed me to a hutch where I could stay while they crafted the guitar...

Ah so the D tuner is touching the A tuner, causing the D to be crooked, then he put the G at the same angle to match.

o_O I was trying to help, but then I noticed you snuck your crotch into the back of the body shot. Now I can't look at the pics any more.

Seriously though, sweet bass. Keep us posted. Open up the control cavity maybe? Could be some clues in there.

Your observation is spot on...but before you pointed that out, I was taken with the way the strings come off of the insides of the tuning pegs and hit the nut at a dam-near 90 degree angle...sorry, there's no way in the world I'm going to spell 'perpendicularly' right on the first try, and I'm at work.

The string travel looks fine to me, it's just always been my rational that if you're going to spend upwards of $1000 on an instrument it had better be perfect construction wise. Not trying to take a shot at the bass or Acoustic356, I just couldn't help but nitpick this one particular detail, the bass looks otherwise looks flawless.

Is that a good thing? I'm not up on all the technology in making a bass... I just know it looks good, sounds great, and plays better than my current #1 bass, which is an Ibanez SR 1400...
