Identity Crisis (please help!)

Hi friends,

I bought a second hand custom bass some time back, and have been unable to identify who made it.

I had previously thought it was a warmoth gecko, until recently when a local luthier told me otherwise.

Theres a bit of an interesting story attached to this instrument too, apparently it was made by a US luther but sold to an Israeli who returned home during recent violence. I picked it up at a fair bargain then as we studied under the same bass teacher.

If anyone is able to identify the model / maker of this bass, I'll be very grateful

you've been told a load of B.S. about being made by a luthier. it's a mass produced "Brice" sold by rondomusic.com.

Yup. Looks like a Brice without a headstock logo to me.

thanks for the help guys.

the part about previous owner is true, and the specs of the bass is slightly different compared to the site, but i think this would be it. maybe the owner upgraded a stock bass and passed it off as custom. we don't get brices in our part of the world.

it plays well and is my current axe, but shall have to be more careful over second hand purchases.

yeah, many people buy these basses cheap to upgrade them themselves. i should know, i personally have a hot rodded jazz from rondomusic.com and absolutely love it.
