If I Like Rush and Tool, then who else may I like?

Rush and Tool are probably my two favourite bands, and I'm curious if anyone has any recommendations for a guy that likes both bands a lot.

I know they're pretty different, but I do like that they're each progressive/experimental bands with a hard rock/metal influence. I like the power of their music. I also like that they both write great music that is a bit technically advanced. I also like they both have singers that sing.

A lot of current metal has vocalists that scream or make throaty, gutteral noises. I'm not really looking for those sort of bands.

I'm also not into overly technical bands (such as Dream Theatre) because as much as I want to, I just can't feel the music... It always comes off as, "look at what I can do", to me.

I like some King Crimson and some Yes, but not all of it. I like the stuff that's more uptempo.

Their last four studio albums are the ones I'm familiar with: In Absentia, Deadwing, Fear Of A Blank Planet, and The Incident

King Crimson, perhaps. There are distinct eras to the band. My favorite records, basically spanning their history, are Lark's Tongues In Aspic, Red, Discipline, and Thrak.

+1 to At the Drive In and Mars Volta (which is the prog band that evolved from At the Drive In).
