If You Won the Lottery & Bought A 2nd Home, Where Would It Be?

Let's say you won a $300M lottery. You can either have a first or second home pretty much anywhere you want and would not have to be concerned with real estate prices or cost of living at the place of your choosing. Where would you pick? For me, I think I would like to live in a beach house somewhere in Hawaii. Kind of like the one in Magnum PI. I am not sure if I would want to live there full time as I might get Island Fever after a while, but who knows. How about you?

There's an island near Wilmington NC. It is the craziest mix of a farm and woods and the beach. I have played several weddings there. It would be like pulling yoiur boat up to your farm. No question. I would own it within the week.

If that guy wouldn't sell to me I would get a large piece of land somewhere near coastal NC. Maybe somewhere on an inlet where my boat could get to the ocean and my house. And I could go hiking on my own land.

Short version. I need space, trees and water.

The structure of the dwelling would be a very distant second to the land itself.

Nice...and you could always custom build any type of structure to your liking. I too need to be near the ocean.

I would have say somewhere with a bit of a different climate - but not too much so. I do like the seasons, but I get tired of winter after the third or fourth snowfall.

As much as I like the west coast area (anywhere from San Diego to Vancouver), I'd have to say I'd go with the coast of Brittany instead. Views are just as beautiful, if not more, than west coast N.A., and prices for oceanfront property are not just for billionaires. Sparsely populated, not a lot of traffic in most places. Walk/cycle to market, very laid back. So much to explore.

Brittany has fairly mild coastal climate - like UK but not as wet. Nicer summer weather, too.
