So, I'm not over the moon about screamy vocals, although I love me many styles of metal. Anywho, I remember some time ago a post about Jared Smith of Archspire. Wanted to see who has heard this dude, Ilja John Lappin of The Hirsch Effekt. Have really enjoyed watching his playthroughs and DG demos for quite some time. Although I'm not an ultra-hybrid technique player, I like watching it from time to time.

I have to say Ilja is one of my all time favorite bassists and influences right now in my life. His band The Hirsch Effekt also has to be one of my favorite bands right now too. He is a beast, incredibly technical, incredibly brutal tone, but also capable of creative refreshing music that I never get tired of listening too. Love the guy.

Hey, ZOMBIE THREAD! Completely forgot about this. I agree, sometimes I’m just in a mood to watch and listen to how he does what he does. Doesn’t even matter if it’s an old Darkglass demo video.
yeah those darkglass demos are actually how I discovered him and his band initially actually. I accidentally stumbled onto this thread trying to figure out what strings Ilja used, so its funny that I ended up here
