Is vaping popular/allowed in your area? Lots of those shops popping up around where I live.
Trex decking is a big hit with the wealthy around here, as is environmentally responsible building/remodeling contractors.
We just bought an RV, and it seems the aftermarket for upgrades is huge.

My wife and I purchased our current property with the intention of growing a lifestyle business out of it. We have all our permits and approvals to develop the infrastructure that would support it and I have been slowly laying the groundwork necessary to turn this place into a type of destination. We started building relationships early on with the county economic development team and tourism bureau to make certain we had the support and to ensure that our vision dovetailed with the master plan for the county.

In broad terms, our plan is a way to capitalize on our unique combinations of skills and experience to create a self-sufficient retirement plan while capitalizing on our network to help draw some of the explosive prosperity from the cities in our region back into the rural areas that surround it. There are a million specifics, too many factors for one post.

Auto auction. I'm amazed at the fees both buyers and sellers pay at one of these places. Get a building, hire a few auctioneers and get local dealers to run their stuff thru your place and you'll be rich in no time.

I vote carrot farming!

I have been self employed off and on over the length of my career. I have done design work and been a general contractor during those periods. The reason I'm not self employed is the incredible number of hours I spent doing things other than designing or building. I hated the routine paperwork and administrative issues. I like working, not filing, entering data, and all that. I also hated the endless prospecting for new work.

I kinda miss looking in the mirror and telling the boss he's a complete idiot, though. He always agreed, too.

Craft beer seems to be all the rage. Just need yourself a hipster beard, a hipster name, a hipster label and an appreciation for hops. If you're no good at making beer, you can always run brewery tours incorporating anything the slightest bit interesting. Here's an example in my local market: www.brewdonkey.ca
