That thing is ingenious. What kind of weight ratings does it have.

What does it weigh and how much weight will it handle once set up?

The LL cot does add some weight to the pack, but as I got older, I got to the point where I could not get any sleep on a light weight self inflating pad alone. I kept buying thicker, (and heavier) pads to be able to get some sleep. It will support a lot of weight.

I can't imagine hiking (with a full pack) for 20+ miles per day, every day for weeks and months on end. Just reading about their logistical issues was tiring...not enough food, water, bathing every week or so, etc, was enough for me to cross thru-hiking off my bucket list. Sounds fun at first, but when you realize how much work it takes to actually do one of these hikes, I'll pass.

Yeah, I know some folks that took on the AT, and both the complexity and and the cash to get everything sorted, food resupplied along the way etc. is daunting. Add in anything like an illness picked up along the way, or trying to get prescription meds refilled, it just gets more complicated/expensive. Personally, I'm also not a huge fan of sleeping on the ground and certain other joys of the woods well-known to bears. Day-hikes are just all right with me.

Indeed, my favorite blueberry patch is beyond/above an AT hut on South Baldface in New Hampster. Or at least the trailhead is in New Hampster; the line twixt Maineiac and New Hampster is tight beside. Stiff hike up with water, lunch and a mostly empty pack; pick for a few hours, enjoy the views and breezes, hike down with a full pack. Don't go if thunderstorms are in the forecast.

They sure do. I got my pair Friday and put them on immediately. I washed them, then wore them again all day Saturday.
I loved them so much, I bought two more pair that arrived today. Out with the cotton boxer briefs, I am now an ExOfficio guy.
Oh my word, these are the best underwear I have ever worn in my 46 years of life. Amazingly comfortable.
Yeah, they aren't cheap at $24 a pair, but completely worth it.

Interesting story time.....when I first saw you mention this name, it felt sort of familiar to me. When my order arrived, the logo was totally familiar to me too.
It took some time, but it came to me. One of my buddies was a web designer for ExOfficio back when they were founded in Seattle. I never bothered to ask him what kind of company ExOfficio was, but he always made jokes about underwear, so now it makes sense. I just assumed he worked for some tech start up since everybody was back in those days in Seattle, or Microsoft.
I called my buddy this morning, who used to work for ExOfficio. He is an independent web designer now, living in Costa Rica. He scolded me for making a purchase as he could have scored me whatever I wanted for free as he still has ties with the company. Oh well.
Crazy small world.

Darn. Connections are to be used, if not abused outright. Come on! Maybe next year have him send you a whole crate of them and have a "Mike Keeps Your Sack Happy Xmas Giveaway!" Next holiday season. Anyone crazy enough not to pay for shipping on such a gift doesn't deserve them anyway.

That said, crazy connection! I used to work for a 401k management place and every now and again I'll drive by some smaller business and be like "Hey I handled their loans and distributions!" Not all that exciting but still kinda cool. Hope your buddy got a piece of the company!

And, lastly, your post should be referenced in all future underwear or sportswear or mountaineering threads. You said it all and you said it perfect.

And yes, I'm typing in a pair myself right now. They look and feel new, but I bought them over a decade ago. I kid you not. Exactly one pair eventually had the waist elastic get a little loose and worn, but 90% plus are still perfect. For how long they last after being washed in hostels with bars of soap while I showered, I say worth every penny. Cotton will rot to nothing in a couple years.

It's should be around 75deg. During the day so I'll go with some under armour. Down to mid 30s at night and have Patagonia long johns.
