I'm looking for a Yamaha JM-2 or a Yamaha Contact number

Hey Guys

I don't know why, but i just realized, the Yamaha JM-2 has the best tone for the other side of metal i play,

i always choose awkward instruments to get....

I mean the John Myung Signature with a Seymour Duncan custom pickup,

Or if some one could put me in contact with Yamaha,

I got my mother to look into it, (shes unemployed right now) and yamaha could do another JM-2, as in same specs same pickups etc, but for example call it the AC-6 (My initials Adam castle + 6 for six strings)

and have the same Seymour Duncan pickup as its was a custom for Yamaha not john myung, every thing is owned by Yamaha so they could change the name and make more

personaly i think if john myung stayed with yamaha (which he should have! despite how good the Bongo H/H sounds his JM-2 just worked with the John Petriccuci (spelling? lol) as the JM-2 just sounds so powerful!

Also i'm not sure if this is in the right area but it is a bass....

Regards
Adam

EDIT

I am willing to pay up to $1200 for a good condition non gigged and prices and probably wouldn't pay less than $400

There are quite a few louthiers here that would be willing to make you a bass for $2200, according to your specs. You'd be able to choose the exact electronics, preamp and hardware you want, you choose the string spacing, the looks.. Make it a yamaha look-alike, but with a custom color or even boutique-looking. I don't know.

I believe Invalid Link Removed are the UK importer/distributor, give them a call or email. Conversely contact Link Removed direct. However, I don't think that the JM2 is a current model as he now seems to be playing MM Bongos. There was one for sale back in May on the UK Forum maybe if you contact the seller they can put you in touch with the current owner. Good luck.

I owned 2 RBX6JM and loved them. Then I owned the RBXJM2. I would NOT recommend this bass. This was the cheapest built bass I've ever seen Yamaha put out. (I'm convinced this bass is why Myung is no longer with Yamaha!) The cool little purple or silver headstock overlay is plastic and is barely fastened on. The neck is about as thick as it is wide. Warwick necks have a more comfortable profile, and they are CHUNKY! On top of that, the string spacing is almost too narrow to play with fingers. (Of course, this was most likely Myung's request, so you can't hold that against Yamaha.)

And the tone! The tone is DEAD! I tried fresh strings and new battery and tweaking the crap out of my RBXJM2 and my Mesa amp. I couldn't squeeze a good tone out of this. Now, I should mention, if you love a dull mumble from your bass, then you may love the tone. I could not dial in any punch, or balls, or dirty grit, or whatever you would attribute to a 'good' tone. I couldn't even capture a fraction of what Myungs dullish tone sounds like! I don't know how Seymour Duncan could make such a crappy p/up. I've played several of their p/ups (quarter lb P&J, ASB soapbars, etc) and none of them sounded this bad.

Now I did a lot of bashing here, BUT Ive played a LOT of basses so feel I can vouch for what is quality and what is junk. (Take a look at my Photobucket link to see my past and present basses or look at the list on my profile. The RBX2JM is #1 on my crap list. Trust me, an RBXJM2 or a copy is not worth more than $200. If you want a metal crunchy tone, look into a Euro Spector. If you must have a 6 string, shop around. Kwesi on TB is selling a Euro 6 string Spector at a steal of a price. I'd be glad to help you find another bass. I'll even give you a deal on one of the 6ers I'm selling. Anything to keep you from going for a RBXJM2! I feel THAT strongly about this!

just my 2 cents!!

FWIW, a local fairly good bassist is a huge fan of DT and has bought a RBXJM2. It's been for sale ever since, and he hasn't sold it yet. It's heavy and uncomfortable in his opinion, way too expensive for the quality. He didn't complain about the sound, but didn't praise it either. For what it's worth. If you really think that bass is the way to go, so be it. But I'm certain there are both better and cheaper options out there.
