In need for some information regarding this History bass

Hi,
I hope you can help me find or provide more details regarding this History bass. I don't know much about it, and I can't find any relevant information. The only thing I know is that it is from 2020.
I'm interested in knowing whether it is an entry-level or high-end bass, and what the value of such an instrument might be.

They are generally very good highish end basses made by Fujigen in Japan...

The history brand is MIJ at the fujigen factory for a Japanese retailer. It was the higher end brand to the coolz brand. They are very well made and comparable in build to fgn brand instruments coming from the same factory at the same time. They have been discontinued.

I have a coolz p bass and a coolz telecaster guitar. Both are exceptionally well crafted and were inexpensive in the $300-$400 range. History instruments would be more expensive, but not greatly so.

Already tried to decode it, but their History catalog runs up to 2016 and this bass is from 2020

I have the most entry level History, the sub shorty 27" and even that is of excellent quality and very well put together. A History p is on my list.

One of my Precision Basses is a History Bass (actually my avatar picture) It's a great bass with great playability. History guitars are an original brand for the Shimamura chain of shops in Japan. Made at the FujiGen plant the bass features the FujiGen "Circle fretting System". This is where the frets are slightly arched, enabling the strings to maintain an even scale length. But to be honest, I don't recognize a big difference to regular frets. This is the History website with a lot of information about the latest products, eg. Jazz basses. I presume these are very similar to your bass from 2020. The website is mostly in Japanese but you can easily translate with AI oder deepl.com…

If I recall, History basses were made from salvaged, sunken timber, thus the brand name.

The thing is I got offered that bass as a trade deal for my Sterling by Music Man Ray35 and I'm just not sure if the trade deal is worth it. As stated, I can't find out the value of the History bass

Once word gets around, History basses are likely to be in demand like '70s Grecos are now. It's a discontinued, quality FujiGen marque, with special provenance because of the waterlogged wood. I'd do the trade. But sure, you need to decide if you like how the bass plays and sounds in the first place.

these 5 string jazz basses seem to sell for $900-1200 from what I've seen from a quick
online search.

I didn't need to see this thread. I have been looking for a good US or Japanese Jazz bass since February. Never heard of this brand so I did a little research and found a killer deal on Reverb for a History jazz bass th-bj4/R DLP model.

It was $450 off!
I nabbed it, can't wait to check it out.

It's worth it to use Buyee.jp - they're a trusted intermediary site that translates selected Japanese auction and ecommerce listings.

History basses show up on their JDirect Auctions and Rakuten / Rakuma listings. Navigation is a bit slow as you need to go down the nested list of categories but you can find some great deals, esp on fixer-uppers.

Buyee handle the shipping and they package things really, really well.

Generally items ship via air freight from Japan - I've usually received items in less than 2 weeks. Pricing may vary, of course.
