increasing responsiveness/ pickup sensitivity

how is this achieved? I record through a Line 6 Toneport and it seems like the bass isn't responsive enough... for example, not enough gain or something.

how would I go about doing this?

I have a Schecter Stiletto Custom-5. all stock.

You could try raising your pickups a bit? That might help. I'm not familiar with the model of your bass, is it active? If so could you possably use a battery change? New strings?

Raise the pickups?

You could raise p/u's or use variable impendance control like my rig has.

It allows me to pre load the p/u which makes it more responsive.
