indian scale , mixolydian scale

Anyone know in and outs of playing the scale on bass , I can play around with it but.. , it is still guess work I got the bass of the sound , I play it in DADG , and play threw the g string and e minor scale and accent the D , I have the basic , but was wondering if anybody had any tips
