input jack help, Ampeg B3 combo

Hey all!
I have this ampeg b3 combo, love it for practice, but I loaned it to my dad and it came back all messed up... managed to fix most of the problems so far, but the input jack is bugged out still... if I want it to work I need to yank the cord skyward once its plugged in, and tuck the cord under the handle on top to make it stay... even then, it fails shortly thereafter. I was thinking of replacing it with the input from my effects loop ('cause who uses it anyways?!) but it's not your standard "solder the wires" bit, it seems to be soldered directly into the circuit board which you find when you pull the guts... anyone ever swap one of these out? Is there soldering involved, or can I just pull it? If there's soldering involved, then I think I have to pull the whole board, which will be a REAL pain.
Any help appreciated!
Thanks!
