If it has a good qaulity soild peice of wood. Good solid neck construction and very good fretwork. If might be a good deal if your willing to add the cost of better pups and or preamp if such is needed for nondead sound prev poster mentioned. Normally in my experience, even if I dont particuliarly like a type of wood, it wont sound dead unless its a pretty poor qaulity peice of that wood type music instrument wise. Just cause the peice of wood might be great for a table top, dont mean its good for bass body.
I like how they did the neck joint with rounded body section there and sunk screw thingys. The instrument looks good. From what I remember, douglass would be their equivalent of agile for guitars. As such there build and electronics qaulity is gonna be there better line for basses. Rounding of the body and the headstock carving indicates spending a bit more time for those. Looks more like a $300-$400 instrument or better. But if the bodys not a qaulity peice of basswood it could diff be dead sounding, same would go if it was ash, alder, mahogany or bubinga body btw. Lol. Bleh pups and or preamp could also cause that in some cases.
