Installing a thumbrest

I am contemplating installing a thumbrest on my Lakland Duck Dunn. It will only be for looks. Where can I find a downloadable P pickguard template to align 62 style thumbrest holes (below G string)?

...Why not use it?

...And what was ever the point of sticking it under the G string anyway? Was it for thumb pickers to rest the rest of their fingers on?

If it were me, I'd say sod the spot under the G and stick it above the E where it can be used properly. But that's me.

It was exclusively for bassists in 60's Surf bands (the weird guy with the broken Buddy Holley glasses), and it was used to hold the body of the bass UP in the absence of a strap.

PS: I want to do this too to my old ESP, so if anyone has a template le'me know.I figure if I can get one hole drilled right, the other one will be easy to eyeball. :ninja:

Ah... Well thankya kindly, now I know. Makes a strange sort of sense... though I'd hate to have to play with my thumb like that.
